what tree did you fall from?

this is a very cool website that my friend amy told me about recently - you look up your birthday and it tells you what tree you are, then the corresponding traits. she likes to type it out in a great font and put it in a pretty frame for friends and family which is a really fun idea that i may have to 'borrow' in the future. amy & her beau are getting hitched in august...i wish there were trees for anniversaries or couples!

so what does it say about me??? check it out...eek!
Jan 1st - 11th
FIR TREE (Mysterious) - extraordinary taste, dignity, sophisticated, loves anything beautiful, moody, stubborn, tends to egoism but cares for those close to them, rather modest, very ambitious, talented, industrious, uncontested lover, many friends, many foes, very reliable.

news...ish.

so, my sinus infection is slowly (and i stress slooooooowlllyy!) going away, but i have been working on a little sumthin', sumthin' by way of an etsy shop and while it's not ready yet, i have been furiously knitting.

cowls (here and here) and skinnies (see above) and epics (you'll have to wait for it) - oh my! above is a sneak at my favorite sumthin' so far...i call it skinny iced chocolate! (OK, i'm having a little too much fun naming my creations!) i promise i will let you know when the shop is open (once it is, i promise i will probably talk of nothing else...jk)

BUT in the meantime, skip over to auburn & ivory and enter a RAD-tastic contest...you could win a necklace, but get there before friday!

other things i just heart these days:
chalkboard paint is lovely
bonnie & clyde meet salt & pepper
owls...nuff said.
hearts for rent
you will be very lucky...in bed
life lessons as comic relief
sweet, sweet sprouse
mice like techno
wrap me up in recycling
enjoy two days in july

i'm back.

a friend of mine once told me about his sister, who had a professor that asked everyone in the class to announce their presence in and out of daydreams, distractions, etc. by saying outloud - in the middle of whatever was going on in class - "i'm back!" when their attention focused back on the task at hand...well,

i'm back!

no promises how long it will last:) but i'm here today. lots going on - i'm working lots of extra hours at the library (like double the usual on-top of my full-time job) and i got a new student at school that i'm working with one on one...so that has taken a minute to get used to, i am a nearly licensed foster parent with hopes (fingers crossed, please!) of adopting my little joe in the new year (sooner, if that's possible!), and what else...who knows! i recently went to NYC to visit my dear sera and our friend ashley was in town (opening up the hottest new thrift on the LES!) and ashley is soon to be married (enter wedding present ideas here:_________)

SO, besides all of that and the fact that we ate lobsters instead of turkey on thanksgiving (support local) i am boring and loving a few things (shared below) and hopefully by the holidays, i will have made a few things for my lovelies and the niece & nephew kidlets :) enjoy links and happy hump day!

sunday.

there is something about a sunday that gives me anxiety - time wasted over the weekend that slipped by too quickly, the impending work week, etc. i also think - what will i blog about this week? am i feeling inspired? i actually know that as the days get darker and colder i will feel inspired to basically get under a fleece blanket, so if my posts get thin don't worry, i promise to not completely hibernate. here's just a few links of love, to make up for being absent on friday! i hope everyone had a wonderful weekend that was relaxing and productive :)

an apple a day.

it is remarkable how closely the history of the apple
tree is connected with that of man.

~ henry david thoreau

fall has SO arrived! apple picking and foliage and frost...OH MY! i am tucked in tonight in the rain, patiently awaiting the presidential debates, but when i found this teeny apple i had to take a picture of it and thought - what would put it in perspective so people really see how small it is? enter strike of lightning.

i have a pseudo-busy weekend, details on what i have been up to for the past few saturdays will be coming soon. i hope wherever you are, it's not raining AND i hope wherever you are, you'll have a great weekend - in the meantime, take a click:

i'm strangely interested in this
i'm bothered by this
i'm really in lurv with these
i'm wishing i were in nyc for this
i'm made calm by these
i'm hoping i'm handy enough to do this
i'm needing to soothe my sore throat with this

moody monday.

[charleston, SC! by amy nieto via creature comforts]

a few things that i hope to be doing in my spare time on lite duty as i heal my back. the MRI results are in and i have a bulging disc, which is like the precursor to a herniated disc, so i am taking the doctor's advice and laying low as hard as that is to do. check out these links that i have found in my google reader travels.

i need a new fortune

i would rock this for a political cause

[these are my favorite flowers this week, PEONIES!! yummy, they make my

gave me after i painted her kitchen...the new pale lilac blue color covers up
a mint green that had graced the walls for years - oye. oh and a pink flare dot, love.]

i have been absent - without any great excuse - BUT i have been starring items like craz-azy on my google reader and because i can't get it together lately to write posts, i will just share my list-o-faves "things i heart lately", links of love, if you will - MWAH!

- m*a*s*h for grown-ups...YAY.
- easy-peasy & eco-friendly for yer veggies
- light up your life [or den] with graffitti

- i am ready to move here, does anyone have a mountain i can borrow?
- t.o.t.t. - think on these things
- LOL for $5.99
- i'm doing this...and i might need some encouragement!

take time.

it's friday, another weekend that has crept up on me quickly and while i'm hoping for good weather so that i can get outside and plant some posies, i wouldn't mind being lazy in the rain. i have a stack of starred items in my google reader that i need to revisit and computer work to do for my mom's dance recital (it's next weekend...eek!). here are a few finds that earn BIG hearts and above is the most molten sunset from this evening just before it disappeared behind the farm. happy weekend:)

--> i heart office supplies, and these are my soon-to-be-new obsession...in addition to my already unhealthy love of sharpies;).
--> my loveliest lovely emilia was featured here and for good reason...great idea.
--> synchronicity is running RAMPANT around here and i nearly fainted to find this on my friday favorite ...it was just two days ago that i told my mom that we had to dig out our recipe that our danish exchange student used to make
--> i need this book and a business plan
--> a gluten-free travel guide for when i make it to italy...someday
--> it's really not easy being green in this video, it's sad
