warm it up.

ok, so i am a novice at this, but did you know that polyvore is the coolest trick ever? well, it's just the cats pajamas! i heart it and now i can maybe be half as cool as these gals putting up sets here and here. i have a feeling that this outfit fix-up may be a regular happening around here because it is TMF...too much fun!

i am missing california BIG time...misses and kisses to my west coast lovelies & kiddos! MWAH.

thank you for being.

"I wanted to acknowledge luck; the chance and benevolence of it in my life, and the brutality of it in the lives of others, who might not be allowed the good fortune of a lifetime to correct it."
~paul newman

i was speechless over the weekend to hear about the loss of an american icon and a true hero. he was an advocate for humans who gave all the credit to luck and salad dressing. he will be missed, visit hole in the wall gang to see how you can make a difference.

an apple a day.

it is remarkable how closely the history of the apple
tree is connected with that of man.

~ henry david thoreau

fall has SO arrived! apple picking and foliage and frost...OH MY! i am tucked in tonight in the rain, patiently awaiting the presidential debates, but when i found this teeny apple i had to take a picture of it and thought - what would put it in perspective so people really see how small it is? enter strike of lightning.

i have a pseudo-busy weekend, details on what i have been up to for the past few saturdays will be coming soon. i hope wherever you are, it's not raining AND i hope wherever you are, you'll have a great weekend - in the meantime, take a click:

i'm strangely interested in this
i'm bothered by this
i'm really in lurv with these
i'm wishing i were in nyc for this
i'm made calm by these
i'm hoping i'm handy enough to do this
i'm needing to soothe my sore throat with this

grey is good.

with the start of grey's anatomy (my obsession!) and the impending rainy fall season that is now upon us, i wanted to window shop for some grey hues, even if i can't afford them!

[cashmere pavia sweater via j.crew]
i need this as my fall staple sweater for cool
mornings in the car and chilly evenings on the porch.
[jamie bag via j.crew]
there is nothing sad about this bag, available in gray cloud italian leather,
i want to share sunshiny days with this treasure on my arm.
(p.s. when did j. crew start making bags to the tune of $500+??)

moody monday.

[charleston, SC! by amy nieto via creature comforts]

a few things that i hope to be doing in my spare time on lite duty as i heal my back. the MRI results are in and i have a bulging disc, which is like the precursor to a herniated disc, so i am taking the doctor's advice and laying low as hard as that is to do. check out these links that i have found in my google reader travels.

i need a new fortune
looking at food in a new light
i would rock this for a political cause
one recommendation i am dying to try
tiny bubbles, BIG treat
i heart what melissa loves, especially this

it's friday.

“if i had my life to live over, i would start
barefoot earlier in the spring and
stay that way later in the fall. i would
go to more dances. i would ride
more merry-go-rounds. i would pick more daisies.”
~ nadine stair

[Rushing to the Merry-go-round by tuis]

it's friday...what a long few weeks it has been! i hope that with the results of my MRI next week i will have some answers and maybe a solution to my crooked back so that i can start getting back on a schedule, etc. BIG reunion this weekend, i'm looking forward to good friends, good music and working on my dance moves from the table closest to the dancefloor :) i hope everyone enjoys the fall weather that is settling in - get out there and pick some apples, drink some hot chocolate, enjoy the early turning leaves!

my achin' back.

[advice by adriaan bloem via flickr]

SO...i am going for an MRI in the am to figure out what ails my back a.k.a. what's-making-my-L4-disc-cranky! i have been on the floor most of this week resting per doctor's orders except when i was helping out making some cd's for this weekends big 10 year high school reunion for the class of 1998 :) i am that old, please cover your mouth if you're going to gasp so loudly...SO, wish me luck, send me happy thoughts, put non-surgical wishes into the universe for your yet-to-be-insured friend! i am also hoping for access to my ipod and mcdreamy as doctor, who will work miracles so that i can dance at my reunion this weekend. i leave you with the image above which (needing spellcheck aside) is making me happy and also the hit of 1998 also known as my senior class song and green day classic - good riddance (time of your life) - MWAH!

a friday jam.

so, here i am blogging from the floor again...i can hardly stand it! as i think everything happens for a reason, i can only hope that i am destined to make millions off my new & innovative ceiling fan designs (i stare at a ceiling fan all day, thinking why did they pick that one? why bronze, not brushed steel?)...maybe i will revolutionize laptops to make typing while laying down possible...i'm sure there's a market!

ANY
who, as typing is uncomfortable (because it includes sitting) i will keep this brief and include an oldie, but goodie that was brought back to me via justin-sexy-back-timberlake on fashion rocks this week. who doesn't need a marvin gaye jam on a friday night?

enjoy the weekend!

blargh.

so, on monday i hurt my back and have since been off my feet, on my couch and out of work...besides looking forward to seeing the chiropractor in the a.m. (3rd morning so far this week) not much else inspires me today...despite efforts to post i just can't. i will try again tommorrow, for now send good vibes to my lower back for a speed-ier recovery -

much luff, kp

get wise.

i had this penny bank when i was little (actually, i still have it...it's just a little worse for wear after all these years!) and i am in a current owl obsession SO, i had to share. mine is clear glass and this one is cola colored, but i still was just really excited when i saw it on design*sponge. check out kanibal home for more fun!

p.s. check out the well read section for cool vintage mags :)

thorns & all.

couldn't you just eat these up...if, of course, that wouldn't hurt so much.

golden.

holy bea arthur! it's my favorite ladies of retirement - on a t-shirt...life is sweet peas & carrots today! kudos to hutchme for their hollywood squares inspired tribute that i'm loving.

ALSO, while perusing, i discovered the infamous alcoholics flask series - just one question:

are you having a busey kind of day or a nolte kind of day??

nutshell.

this is me in a nutshell! my life and summer, summed up by a brilliant little video that could, talk about an icebreaker for me to transition from my excessive 'procrastination'!

baby steps...

“After all, computers crash, people die, relationships fall apart. The best we can do is breath and reboot.”
-Carrie Bradshaw

OK, so for those of you with abandonment issues...apologies! my timeout turned into a mini-break, which turned into a vacation, which then turned into a complete denial of ever having had a blog...SO, let's just say i had to reboot, take stock and breath...i think i did and it was needed, but i missed you!

now, i'm working my way back into a routine and had hoped to be back sooner but, here i am and i am sifting my way through 1000+ posts in my google reader (really it stops counting after 1000 and i cannot NOT look!!) & i have wittled that number down under 200 this weekend. despite having starred posts to my hearts content, i couldn't figure out where to start tonight - so i will start with hello and then let the pressure be on for the rest of the week;)

p.s. did i mention that i checked "learning to blow glass" off my to-do list of life??!?!? it was RAD (!) and there will definitely be more to come on that subject.
