ok, so whilst waiting for my beloved ray lamontagne to take the stage this past weekend, my ears were delighted by the low anthem - i have to say it was like @ first listen! the group is uber-talented (seriously is there any instrument that the three of them don't play???) and i am now an O-fficial fan, this is my favorite song - freakishly haunting & sweetly heartbreaking...in a good way:

gossip in the grain.

i went to an AMAZING show last night, saw ray lamontagne (who i LOVE) and it was a feeling of being brought somewhere else for a short time where love & pain are friends, where feelings are transformed into his weathered, raspy voice and spoken directly to me. after an encore, he simply said "thank you, see you guys soon." and walked off...(sigh)...i am eternally grateful for amy & her spare ticket :)

a friday jam.

so, here i am blogging from the floor again...i can hardly stand it! as i think everything happens for a reason, i can only hope that i am destined to make millions off my new & innovative ceiling fan designs (i stare at a ceiling fan all day, thinking why did they pick that one? why bronze, not brushed steel?)...maybe i will revolutionize laptops to make typing while laying down possible...i'm sure there's a market!

ANYwho, as typing is uncomfortable (because it includes sitting) i will keep this brief and include an oldie, but goodie that was brought back to me via justin-sexy-back-timberlake on fashion rocks this week. who doesn't need a marvin gaye jam on a friday night?

i heard this song the other night on so you think you can dance, and now i am obsessed. i wanna do a major 80's dance rock out to it at the next possible opportunity! BIG hearts.

old is new.

i just love a throw back to the past and this new song by solange (beyonce's younger sis) is so fun, i could play it all day long on a loop. i have always had the love for new old sounds, like when lauryn hill came out with doo wop (that thing) and more recently amy winehouse's back to black album...i just hope for solange that she doesn't turn into a cuckoo bird or a crack head - cheers!

p.s. this video is pretty cool, but i'm not exactly (or even minorly) sure what it has to do with the song. that's A LOT of political and historical content for one summer hit...

ok, so while i slap myself on the wrist for being a bad blogger this week, i have to pat myself on the back for being a good daughter instead...a little more important since i was too broke to get my mom anything more than a card for mother's day last week :) my mom is an amazing lady AND a beloved dance teacher to boot! this weekend is her 35th anniversary show, congratulations mum! if i could commit to something for the next 35 years and know with every fiber of myself that i would still enjoy it, than i would sign up right now. i will be back tomorrow (if i don't pass out from the exhaustion of 3 shows and this cold i'm trying to fight off) and hope to share some of my favorite things that i just heart as of late.

in the meantime, here's a song i heard the other night that i am now obsessed with! it makes me wanna roller skate (which i do NOT do...i have the roller-rama pictures to prove it!) and it's such a summer-ish song, i immediately think of being at a disco (because in this dream i am either in europe or the 1970's) OR (in modern day dreams) i'd be driving around in a convertible on a hot summer night, top down and car dancing while stuck in traffic and not caring...like a soft drink commercial! i liked it so much that i texted myself so i wouldn't forget to remember it later for my songs i heart today: summer mix edition, ENJOY!

i JUST did something not known to me...i figured out a tech issue on my own (sans sera, my technical guru). i am always jealous that perez has music to share and tonight i got just interested enough to figure it out so that we can heart music here too...not as pretty in pink like his, but baby steps. so since today was the first day i heard spring sounds outside my door, i want to celebrate with what sounds like spring to me.

i became involved with this song a few years back after it was featured on the series finale of sex & the city...i googled, searched and it was unavailable in the US...then i heard it AGAIN the other night when the hills went to paris (you would watch it too if you were home on cold meds...even if you wouldn't, don't judge!), SO again being OCD - i found it, purchased it and now i shall put it out there for your listening pleasure, many thanks to seeqpod for making this so easy that i could & would do it again!
