yes.

the splendor of the rose and the whitness of the lily do not rob the little violet of it’s scent nor the daisy of its simple charm. if every tiny flower wanted to be a rose, spring would lose its lovliness.

flowers have arrived in maine. i would like to than mother nature for this small promise of beautiful & warmer things to come.

i'm O-fficially over snow.

farmer's market & the flea
farmer's market & the flea - by thingsihearttoday on Polyvore.com

ok, so i made this set about 4 months ago, but i am really needing it now! i am in the mood for spring and the 18-24 inches of snow outside my window, that fell overnight, that i shoveled today...is not helping my mood! i long for the long lost days in california - going to the farmer's market on saturdays and the flea with pals, kicking around san diego vintage shops or buying organic peaches in santa barbara. i need sunshine to grow my friends! i have said it before and i'll say it forever...so spring and summer BETTER be right around the corner or else i might flip my cookie!

checking in.

i have been absent, BUT i have a doctor's note. luckily my foot silliness turns out not to be an infection (despite doctor's best efforts to convince me, the culture didn't grow!) and so now the likely reason that my foot swelled to the size of a melon is some kind of bite..."it presents like venom" the fourth doctor said on my fourth trip to the hospital, Thanks! that was my original idea, but i am on antibiotics, elevating the foot when possible and trying to get back into the swing of work, blogging, laundry, etc. i must give a big shout out to all my friends in new york who i didn't spend much time with, next time i am steering clear of the botanical gardens AND the subway;)

so while i have been away what have i been up to besides panic attacks over not having insurance? well yesterday, use your words, the project that emilia and i collaborated on ended...today i miss it already. lately i have been having breakfast envy...every day! and another one bites the dust, one of my favorite bloggers has made the leap into the unknown to stop working for the man and start something for herself, good luck & kudos! i downloaded the sneak peak from a band i adore. i also made a rad cake for my nephew brody's 5th birthday (pictures to follow). my magnolia, which is annually wrecked by rain as soon as it buds, bloomed and still blooms against the very blue skies of spring here after thankfully short lived rain. please enjoy my favorite shade of pink & a perfect blue, welcome spring!

rar.

“april is the cruelest month, breeding lilacs out of the dead land, mixing memory and desire, stirring dull roots with spring rain.”
~ t.s. elliot

why rar? i dunno, that's what sera asked earlier...it's just a feeling i have today. i got scratched, kicked, hit and nearly spit on at school today by the little boy who i know has the most potential in the world to be an outstanding 5 year old (if only someone at his home could fill him with that love & confidence). i mis-grammared (SHOCKER!) a project that i thought i was done with at work & therefore had to re-do it. it snowed, AGAIN. i have heartburn, a headache & need to go to bed, BUT i am also sitting on an announcement that i have been waiting to make and tomorrow is the big day - SO! stay tuned, the week can only go up from here (THANK GAWD!). i did have a fun and pseudo productive weekend, i hope to be back on track here tomorrow and i really want to share some of my favorite must try-on tanks tops for spring...so cheers to everyone on this april-eve!

sounds like.

i JUST did something not known to me...i figured out a tech issue on my own (sans sera, my technical guru). i am always jealous that perez has music to share and tonight i got just interested enough to figure it out so that we can heart music here too...not as pretty in pink like his, but baby steps. so since today was the first day i heard spring sounds outside my door, i want to celebrate with what sounds like spring to me.

i became involved with this song a few years back after it was featured on the series finale of sex & the city...i googled, searched and it was unavailable in the US...then i heard it AGAIN the other night when the hills went to paris (you would watch it too if you were home on cold meds...even if you wouldn't, don't judge!), SO again being OCD - i found it, purchased it and now i shall put it out there for your listening pleasure, many thanks to seeqpod for making this so easy that i could & would do it again!

hazy shade of winter

my google search today tells me that spring can be defined as:

“the season of growth”
OR

“the transition from winter into summer”

i would define spring as a feeling you get just before something gets good – you know, that calm willingness to tolerate mud puddles simply because you know that the lilacs are on their way. granted, spring is far from shining just yet, but still when i think about spring i do the excited dance - i think about flip flops, planting a garden (with swiss chard & heirloom tomatoes!) & listening to my favorite mix with the sunroof open, shades on. as i get excited for my own sanity to return after a very long & snowy maine winter, i wanted to share some of the things that are keeping me warm these days...cozy to be exact. this artist ,marisa haedike, is from LA - maybe that's why her prints are sunny!

“buttercup” print

by: creativethursday

i hope that springs comes in more like a lamb rather than a lion, but if it had to come in like a lion wouldn’t you like it to look like buttercup? i want to adopt him, i’ll be angelina 2.0 - with animals!

BTW! if love looks like this, sign me up to sit on a branch! how cute are they with the snuggles?!?! BIG hearts.

i love a parade.

"winter is on my head, but eternal spring is in my heart."
~ Victor Hugo

so, it's a messy wednesday in maine & as i sit here surrounded by my least favorite thing (snow!) - i am trying to get to my happy place with things that are cheery & filled with hints of spring. today i wanted to parade some new spring-ish items that have caught my eye lately (think: nautical novelties, nesting birds & short sleeves with an attitude!) but i am proving to be slow on the uptake of placing photos, credits & links - SO, i will wait to do it right! for now, the parade will have to wait, check in tomorrow for a semi-flashy blog full of technology...maybe ;)

in the meantime, my day was brightened by a call from a long lost friend who has opened a great cafe in my area. if you live in maine or more specifically in or around the lewiston/auburn area willy beans is the new place to be. it's coffee (with an education if you're less than versed on the bean lingo like i am) and heart healthy food that is big on flavor. i had the italian grilled cheese sandwich (also known to my stomach as YUM), which i could eat everyday for the rest of my life, but instead i think i'll just try and get through everything on their menu at least once because it is all under $7 an item - when was the last time that happened? plus they have free wi-fi, local artists on display & sweet treats - what could be better than supporting a local business and enjoying it at the same time?
