putting it out there...

"i know that he is out there…he’s probably hiding under a red sox cap in a place that i frequent & wondering if i always laugh that loud or if my lips always turn that color when i drink wine. he’s there and maybe i know him or maybe i don’t know him yet, but this is the year we come together & figure it out - from hellos to first kisses to who’s on top.

i don’t care how much money he makes - i don’t care about the kind of shampoo he uses or the color of his eyes. i only care how much he makes me laugh, how much he hates to see me cry & what kind of a person he is when i’m not looking. he will be the big spoon to my tall dessert spoon & together we’ll make a life that people say isn’t possible except in great novels. it will be fabulous & i won’t worry about the future anymore."

goof-a-loof.

this is a great picture that i found recently of my grandparents...they were young & in love & goofy looking - true smiles, laughing eyes and my grandmother has music notes on her shirt.

plus i just had to get in a shot of the lilacs before they rusted from the rain, so i decided to do a totally over the top sun shot with the mason jar to boot! looks like goofy runs in the family :)

i would like to be a little magic someday.

and then fight so hard for it every day that the lie becomes the truth.

love.

my lovely ashley sent me this yesterday (sorry i don't know where the image is from!) and it made me laugh out loud. in my life, i feel like laughter is my favorite kind of love...maybe my heart is located in my funny bone! anyone who can make me fall down from hysterical laughter, startle me into deep belly laughs or make me tear up with that silent laugh where you can't breathe has the key to my heart completely. i hope your day if full of laughter, people, places & food that you love ;)

"...we hope it, we know it."

“sometimes our fate resembles a fruit tree in winter. who would think that those branches would turn green again and blossom, but we hope it, we know it.”
- goethe

happy 2009! i am all snuggled up in a blanket as i write tonight, it's frigid outside in maine and i DESPERATELY miss the warm beaches of california (and margaritas enjoyed in the comfort of my flip-flops...but i digress!). so as i'm sitting here i'm thinking of all of my favorite people who are also snuggled up tonight and feeling uncertain about the year to come...i have no crystal ball (just a cotton-candy pink magic date-ball from the free pile in college that always tells me to try again later), but i believe the quote above and know that everything will all shake out. from my beloved friends in new york, to my very own dad - times are tough, but i'm putting good thoughts into the universe because i believe the best is yet to come and hopefully, soon to come. do me a favor friends and put some good energy out into the world today...and everyday for that matter! love to all, kp

three hundred forty six days.

"if we take care of the moments, the years will take care of themselves."
-- maria edgeworth

today is emilia's birthday...in 1980 (a leap year) we were born 346 days apart...years later we met in college and the rest is, as they say, history. today we are living 3,185 miles apart (sadly) and since i can't be in california on her birthday i will send hugs and love over the miles...the package above is on it's way my love, i hope you have a wonderful birthday and that you had a fun extravaganza weekend with sweets & treats in the park. MWAH!

she's a maniac.

“some people wear their heart up on their sleeve. i wear mine underneath my right pant leg, strapped to my boot.” - ani difranco

i would very much like to wear these while sporting a wide-mouthed-cut-off vintage grey sweatshirt...think flashdance, but more fancy than a steel mill. although i would tape my feet and go barefoot rather than do the high heel thing, these lace-up legwarmers from year of the goat are corset meets knit heaven. j'like (this is me & dw's version of j'adore...our silly american version!). also - for those motivated folks out there - the pattern to make these yo'self is also available.

summer luffin'.

ok, so while i slap myself on the wrist for being a bad blogger this week, i have to pat myself on the back for being a good daughter instead...a little more important since i was too broke to get my mom anything more than a card for mother's day last week :) my mom is an amazing lady AND a beloved dance teacher to boot! this weekend is her 35th anniversary show, congratulations mum! if i could commit to something for the next 35 years and know with every fiber of myself that i would still enjoy it, than i would sign up right now. i will be back tomorrow (if i don't pass out from the exhaustion of 3 shows and this cold i'm trying to fight off) and hope to share some of my favorite things that i just heart as of late.

in the meantime, here's a song i heard the other night that i am now obsessed with! it makes me wanna roller skate (which i do NOT do...i have the roller-rama pictures to prove it!) and it's such a summer-ish song, i immediately think of being at a disco (because in this dream i am either in europe or the 1970's) OR (in modern day dreams) i'd be driving around in a convertible on a hot summer night, top down and car dancing while stuck in traffic and not caring...like a soft drink commercial! i liked it so much that i texted myself so i wouldn't forget to remember it later for my songs i heart today: summer mix edition, ENJOY!

hazy shade of winter

my google search today tells me that spring can be defined as:

“the season of growth”
OR

“the transition from winter into summer”

i would define spring as a feeling you get just before something gets good – you know, that calm willingness to tolerate mud puddles simply because you know that the lilacs are on their way. granted, spring is far from shining just yet, but still when i think about spring i do the excited dance - i think about flip flops, planting a garden (with swiss chard & heirloom tomatoes!) & listening to my favorite mix with the sunroof open, shades on. as i get excited for my own sanity to return after a very long & snowy maine winter, i wanted to share some of the things that are keeping me warm these days...cozy to be exact. this artist ,marisa haedike, is from LA - maybe that's why her prints are sunny!

“buttercup” print

by: creativethursday

i hope that springs comes in more like a lamb rather than a lion, but if it had to come in like a lion wouldn’t you like it to look like buttercup? i want to adopt him, i’ll be angelina 2.0 - with animals!

BTW! if love looks like this, sign me up to sit on a branch! how cute are they with the snuggles?!?! BIG hearts.
